Mar del Plata

Mar del Plata is located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean in the Buenos Aires Province, 250 miles (400 km) south of Buenos Aires. It's the holiday destination in Argentina during the summer months of december and january.

The Port
Very colorful wharf with wooden boats and sea lions. At 5pm the port becomes very lively when the fishermen return.

Catedral de San Pedro
Neo-gothic cathedral de San Pedro has wonderful stained glass, an impressive chandelier from France and English-tile floors.

Centro Cultural Villa Victoria
The home of Victoria Ocampo, founder of the literary journal Sur. It emits the 'belle epoque' time of Mar del Plata. Prominent guests were Jorge Luis Borges and Igor Stravinsky.
