Iguazu Falls
Iguazu Falls is one of the most breathtaking sights on our planet. The power, size and sheer noise of the falls are truly spectacular. They lie within the Parque Nacional Iguazú that splits the border of Argentina and Brazil.
Their name comes from the Guarani or Tupi words y (water) and ûasú (big). Legend has it that a god planned to marry a beautiful aborigine named Naipí, who fled with her mortal lover Tarobá in a canoe. In rage, the god sliced the river creating the waterfalls, condemning the lovers to an eternal fall
The Iguazu Falls are waterfalls of the Iguassu River located on the border of the Brazilian state of Paraná (in the Southern Region) and the Argentinian Province of Misiones and are is easily reached from either side of the Argentine-Brazilian border. It is here that the river Iguaçu tumbles down to the Paraná river in a staggering 275 mesmerizing waterfalls. They stretch out over a distance of 3 kilometers (1.860 miles) following the borders of Argentina and Paraguay. Most of the falls are within Argentinian territory, but from the Brazilian side a more panoramic view is obtained.
